Now Trending: Blazers and Warm Layers

It’s officially fall! Finally time for some cool weather, warm coffee, cozy candles, and everyone’s favorite: fall fashion. In recent years blazers have made a comeback in casual wear, and we’re here for it! Transforming your look into chic and sophisticated, blazers are the perfect add-on for any occasion. With most classes being online this semester, it’s harder to find occasions to dress up since so much time is spent at home. Being intentional about dressing up and rocking the clothes you have makes a big difference in how you feel and go about your day. We speak from experience!

So, how do we go about making the change?

We’ll let you in on a little secret... You really only need one blazer. There are endless ways to style a neutral blazer, whether its cream, brown, black, or beige. You can easily layer with basic solids and jeans for a minimalist but stylish look, which makes for the ~quintessential~ fall outfit. One major key is to stick to a minimum of 2-3 colors, based on what you’re layering with. For example, if you have a black top underneath a different-colored blazer, try to stick with a black belt and shoes. This not only helps contrast the main piece, but keeps the look sleek and sophisticated with continuing the use of those colors. If it's a little colder that day, go for a fitted turtleneck or sweater with a pair of heeled black booties. Important sidenote: Black goes with everything!

Speaking of “black” and “blazer,” every influencer as of late is sporting a faux leather blazer. Why not add one to your collection? Not only do they keep you warm during dinner dates or late-night study sessions, but they also take your look to the next level with minimal effort. Most of these fashion-forward blazers come adorned with pockets that will make your purse look tiny and sleeves that can be rolled up for a more textured look or create clean lines when left alone.

Let an oversized leather blazer complete your look without covering it up, whether you’re wearing a cable knit sweater or a mini dress straight from summer. Cute and versatile? Say less.

The best part about having a black staple blazer is the endless amount of outfits at your disposal. Dark shades can pull any look together by adding an edge without taking it over the top. Throw on a baggy t-shirt, jeans, and your favorite dark oversized jacket and you’re instantly Hailey Bieber herself. Who says you can’t be casual and chic?

A personal favorite trick if you’re wanting to skip the hassle of matching bright colors with bold patterns, is using a black faux leather blazer and black top to create a monochromatic outfit instead. Black clothing may be intimidating, but don’t let that stop you from rocking it! Layering black on black transforms a simple fit into an ambitious one that commands attention in every room.

Some say that your clothing speaks for you, so make sure it’s sending the right message. Step into fall fashion with blazers and layers that are easy to bundle up in and even easier to rock your best fall look.

For this outfit, I styled a black casual camisole with some mom jeans for a simple, yet sleek look. The cream colored blazer provided great contrast with the bottom layers since I kept everything the same color! For accessories, I wore gold abstract figure earrings and a simple gold charmed necklace. Paired with some gold statement rings, the jewelry really completed this look.

I based my outfit around the faux leather blazer and made sure to keep that the focal point of the look. To keep the colors cohesive, I picked a black shirt with side ruching for added detail and black booties to match. The mom jeans were for comfort and to keep the outfit casual. As far as accessories, I only added gold statement earrings to compliment the blazer.
