A Doodle Co.: Keeping Your Pets Healthy, One Treat at a Time

Meet A Doodle Co., the small business that is changing the dog treat game.

Texas A&M sophomore Savannah Patterson owns and runs A Doodle Co. and produces the product herself, with the company of her dog, Arlo—the inspiration for the business. Savannah searched for dog treats for Arlo that were actually healthy and good for his diet, but eventually found that many of the mainstream dog treat brands contained harsh ingredients that wouldn’t have been good for him. That’s when A Doodle Co. was born.

“I got my dog last May and I could never find healthy treats for him,” said Savannah. “So I started to make them myself and figured out the recipes so I could start selling them. My dog was my inspiration.”

Savannah prides A Doodle Co. on making treats that are 100% organic and believes that is what sets them apart from other companies trying to make dog treats.

“The fact that we’re all organic [makes us different],” said Savannah. “A lot of treats have icing, sugar and other unhealthy stuff that’s not meant for dogs.”

Even though A Doodle Co. has only been running for about a year, the companies’ Instagram account has grown immensely, which has helped to promote the treats. Hundreds of orders have been placed since the origin of the business, and a big milestone is about to be reached for A Doodle Co. in the very near future.

“We’re about to hit our 300th order,” said Savannah. “That's a big step for me.”

Most of the business sales come from their website and Instagram, but there are in-person sales as well. A Doodle Co. products are often available at The Local, a weekly farmer’s market in College Station. Many of the treats can be personalized with your dog’s name and can be made custom for holidays.

Savannah knows there are great things in store for A Doodle Co. and hopes that one day she may be able to run the company full-time. But for now, she says growth and creativity are at the forefront.

“Obviously, I wish I could do this full time,” said Savannah. “So I just want to keep growing and putting out new recipes and having fun with it.”
