For many of us, it is the experience of stepping into a coffee shop and being greeted by the comforting, yet energizing aroma of fresh coffee beans. It’s the excitement of endless drink combinations that keep us coming back. Recently, there has been a shift to enjoying your cup of joe from the comfort of home and we can’t help but notice the pride and joy that comes from doing so. Here are some tips for everything you need to become the go-to barista in your own kitchen:

No matter how strong you take your coffee or whether you prefer iced or hot, it is essential to start with a strong base. Some of our favorite pre-bottled cold coffees can be found at both HEB and Target, making it *so* convenient. If you are a Starbucks loyalist, look no further than the bottled Starbucks Iced Coffee in their three iconic roasts: dark, medium, and blonde. If you are more of a cold brew aficionado, try La Colombe, Stok, Chameleon Organic, or Califia Farms cold brew. Each has a variety of unsweetened and sweetened options, giving you the freedom to concoct your unique coffee creations. Don’t think we forgot about our hot coffee lovers. Whether you are working with a Mr. Coffee instant pot or a top-of-the-line Nespresso machine, you can still get an equally delicious result.

Now that you have your main ingredient ready (clearly), it’s time for the real creativity to begin. Not all of us are as brave as the coffee aficionados who can take our cup straight-up black, so here are some of our top at-home add-ins. Syrups will instantly elevate your coffee and give it the added flavor of your choosing. Flavors include vanilla, mocha, raspberry, caramel, toffee nut, and so many more. The options are truly endless. Skinny Mixes, Torani, and Starbucks each have their own syrups to use at home.

An easy and instant upgrade to mimic everyone’s favorite Sweet Cream Cold Foam is a simple mixture of heavy whipping cream (or half & half creamer), a pack of Splenda or Stevia, and a tiny bit of any syrup of your choosing for sweetener. Last but not least, froth it all together and voila—the quintessential coffee topping. Finish off with a cute cup or glass to showcase the best part of the morning. Cheers!
