Local Hair Stylists That Will Make You Love Your Locks
Finding a hair stylist can be tough, especially in a town that is only your home for a part of the year, as you come and go from school. You may find yourself hours or even a flight away from the hometown salon you’ve grown comfortable with and trust with your precious locks. No matter where you’re from, odds are you’re going to need a hair touch-up while you’re here for school in the Bryan/College Station area. Before you fret, we’ve come to the rescue.
We are all painfully aware of how tedious it can be to find the right stylist you can trust. So, we’ve compiled a list of some of the most talented hair professionals in the B/CS area to take some of the guesswork out of the process. Next time you’re in need of a trim, some highlights, or a major chop, consider these ladies for the task!
Darian Harris: Hypnotik Salon
Darian has been doing hair since 2016 in the B/CS area and worked her way up the ladder in her current salon, from being a receptionist at only 16 years old to eventually attending cosmetology school.
Favorite Service: Balayage and vivid colors
Pro Hair Tip: “Keep your hot tools below 350 degrees. Use heat protectants no matter what you’re doing to your hair!”
To book with Darian, contact Hypnotik Salon by calling (979) 846-0011 or texting (979) 255-1531, or message her on Instagram @hypnotikstylesbydarian
Amber Maldonado: Mane Story
Amber has been doing hair for 9 years, and now owns and operates her own private salon suite.
Favorite Service: Babylights, balayage (she loves creating the perfect shade of blonde for her clients), and color corrections.
Pro Hair Tip: “Put dry shampoo on fresh, clean hair. This will prevent oil and dirt buildup before it starts to accumulate. This is a great way to start training your hair if you are wanting to go longer in between shampooing your hair! Also, use a microfiber towel to dry your hair. This will be a lot more gentle than a regular bath towel, which has fibers that can pull on the hair and cause breakage.”
You can book with Amber on her website https://ambermaldonado.glossgenius.com/ or text her at (979) 492-9927 (Check out her work on Instagram @amberm_hairstylist!)
Ellie Bruce: Ellie Hair Co.
Ellie has been a hair stylist for 8 years now, including 2 and a half in the Bryan/College Station area.
Favorite Service: Blonding—highlights, platinum, and balayage!
Pro Hair Tip: “My #1 tip is to use a heat protectant! Using hot tools on your hair without protection boils the moisture within your hair and breaks down bonds, quickly resulting in dry, damaged, yellowed hair. My favorite heat protectant in Redken Iron Shape!”
To book an appointment with Ellie, you can message her on Instagram @elliehairco, or text her at 1-(405) 612-0196.
Rachael Dorazio: RA Salon
Rachael has been doing hair in the Bryan/College Station area for 4 years.
Favorite Service: Extensions (certified in Invisible Bead Extensions which can give clients length and volume without any damage)
Pro Hair Tip: “Ever wonder why your blonde hair starts to look drab over time? It is possibly due to the overuse of purple shampoo! Next time your hair is feeling dull, pick up a good clarifying shampoo. This will help get rid of any purple residue and give your blonde a fresh new look.”
Book with Rachael at (979) 820-7099 or message her on Instagram @rachael.dorazio
Denise Prescott: Hypnotik Salon
Denise has been a hair stylist for 16 years, 2 of which here in College Station.
Favorite Service: None! She feels each client brings their own vibe, and that different services like cuts and colors should complement each other. She’s satisfied when clients leave feeling happy, no matter the service.
Pro Hair Tip: “Know your hair, get in tune with it to know what works for you. Definitely don’t shampoo every day. My personal quote is, ‘Always remember too much of a good thing is just as bad as not enough’ so don’t overuse products!”
Book with Denise by calling Hypnotik Salon at (979) 846-0011 or texting (979) 255-1531
Whether you’re on your way to booking an appointment or heading to get inspired by their gorgeous Instagram feeds, we wish you and your locks health and happiness (and lots of heat protectant)!
