Finding a hair stylist can be tough, especially in a town that is only your home for a part of the year, as you come and go from school. You may find yourself hours or even a flight away from the hometown salon you’ve grown comfortable with and trust with your precious locks. No matter where you’re from, odds are you’re going to need a hair touch-up while you’re here for school in the Bryan/College Station area. Before you fret, we’ve come to the rescue. 

We are all painfully aware of how tedious it can be to find the right stylist you can trust. So, we’ve compiled a list of some of the most talented hair professionals in the B/CS area to take some of the guesswork out of the process. Next time you’re in need of a trim, some highlights, or a major chop, consider these ladies for the task!

Darian Harris: Hypnotik Salon

Darian has been doing hair since 2016 in the B/CS area and worked her way up the ladder in her current salon, from being a receptionist at only 16 years old to eventually attending cosmetology school.

Pro Hair Tip: “Keep your hot tools below 350 degrees. Use heat protectants no matter what you’re doing to your hair!”

Amber Maldonado: Mane Story 

Amber has been doing hair for 9 years, and now owns and operates her own private salon suite. 

Favorite Service: Babylights, balayage (she loves creating the perfect shade of blonde for her clients), and color corrections.

Pro Hair Tip: “Put dry shampoo on fresh, clean hair. This will prevent oil and dirt buildup before it starts to accumulate. This is a great way to start training your hair if you are wanting to go longer in between shampooing your hair! Also, use a microfiber towel to dry your hair. This will be a lot more gentle than a regular bath towel, which has fibers that can pull on the hair and cause breakage.”

Ellie Bruce: Ellie Hair Co.

Ellie has been a hair stylist for 8 years now, including 2 and a half in the Bryan/College Station area.

Pro Hair Tip: “My #1 tip is to use a heat protectant! Using hot tools on your hair without protection boils the moisture within your hair and breaks down bonds, quickly resulting in dry, damaged, yellowed hair. My favorite heat protectant in Redken Iron Shape!”

Pro Hair Tip: “Know your hair, get in tune with it to know what works for you. Definitely don’t shampoo every day. My personal quote is, ‘Always remember too much of a good thing is just as bad as not enough’ so don’t overuse products!”
