A December to Remember
With the holiday season underway, it’s the perfect time of year to spend quality time with your partner. Staying home and lounging by the fire is always an option, but celebrating the season in town is known to raise holiday spirits. An essential College Station experience is attending the famed Santa’s Wonderland. The beautiful lights, ice skating, music, and hot chocolate never fails to bring the essence of Christmas to life. Although Santa’s Wonderland is justifiably the most well-known holiday hot spot, there are a few more remarkable places to visit with your other half.
Century Square
The grass center of Century Square, adorned with hanging lights and offering live music on the weekends, makes for a first-class date night. There are many delicious restaurants to try, such as HopDoddy Burger Bar and Blaze Pizza. For dessert, you can walk over to get cookies at Tiff’s Treats or any dessert you can think of at Hey Sugar. With Juanita’s Tex Mex restaurant and Lick Ice Cream coming soon, there is a lot to look forward to in this growing shopping center. On Sunday, December 5, Jingle on the Green will bring Christmas music, unique booths from local tenants, a hot chocolate station, holiday activities, and more to the square. Century Square is a beautiful place year-round, but there is something special about the plaza during the holiday season.
First Friday
Downtown Bryan is a short drive from College Station, and it has so much to offer. First Friday is a tradition among locals during the first Friday of every month, where vendors set up in the streets with live music, activities, and plenty more. In addition to First Friday, downtown Bryan has a plethora of events happening weekly. 3rd Floor Cantina is home to comedy nights every Wednesday, RX pizza has trivia night on Thursdays, and Saturdays call for farmer's markets and live music. The Theater Company in Bryan is performing Elf, The Musical during weekends in December. On Thursday, December 2, the town of Bryan is hosting Holiday Magic, which will include a snow hill to sled down, cookies and hot chocolate, and more entertainment—all free to the public. Early December is the perfect time to take a break from studying and bond with your partner by supporting local businesses and attending town events.
Lake Walk
Every Saturday, community yoga takes place in the grass beside the Lake Walk. This would be a great event to attend to destress from a long week. Every Tuesday, The Local (an outdoor market) features artisans, farmers, producers, and crafters from across the Brazos Valley. From fresh foods to homemade soaps and handcrafted jewelry, The Local features a variety of vendors week to week. On December 4, there will be a Polar Express pajama party and an outdoor movie at the Lake Walk. Not only does this area have one of the best coffee shops in town, POV Coffee House, but it is a beautiful area to unplug and get some fresh air.
