Euphoria: Get the Look

The release of HBO’s original series Euphoria shook the media and pop culture. While the show was built on a rich story and fantastic acting, viewers especially fell in love with the elaborately unique makeup looks that many characters sported. Consisting of bold colors and creative uses of glitter, the style trended across social media, creating a new wave of daring and saturated eye looks. How can one become a master of the Euphoria eye look? Consider this article as your personal guide:

COLORS, COLORS, COLORS

The base element of any Euphoria-inspired look is built with the use of vivid colors to create a vibrant eyelid. Neutral colors such as browns, blacks, and whites are usually last-resort. Instead, brighter pigments are opted for, including hues of pinks, purples, reds, oranges, greens, and blues. The brighter the better! Using neon shades creates the perfect base for these saturated eye looks.

ALL THE GLITTER

When looking to Euphoria for beauty advice, don’t be afraid to go overboard with the glitter—it can transform your look from muted to spotlight-ready. Taking cues from characters like Maddy and Cassie, glitter can be packed onto the lid in shades of bronze, bright yellow, or red. To take it a step further, draw a cat-eye outline on the lid with thin black eyeliner, and fill the inside space with more glitter that will make the look truly pop.

EMBELLISHMENTS

Euphoria’s use of rhinestones, face art, and other embellishments have started a revolution in the beauty world, with the average makeup user starting to see their face as a canvas. For an artistic, Euphoria-chic look, first sweep a neon color across the entire lid, such as a bright blue or yellow. Then, take rhinestones and dot them all over the eyelids and up to the brow bone for an eye-catching contrast to the neon shadow. Additionally, a Euphoria-inspired look can be achieved by taking neon eyeliner and drawing shapes on the corners of the eyes, such as a cloud or squiggles of colored lines that resemble a painting in a modern art museum.

UNDER-EYES

Lastly, one of the most enhancing features of makeup looks inspired by Euphoria is the under-eye technique. On the show, characters are notorious for using colors, glitter, and other embellishments to create a widening effect, bringing the looks under the eye. This is commonly achieved with glitter and bright eyeshadow, which causes the illusion of tears falling from the eyes (which is surprisingly a move). Along with this, some opt for the use of rhinestones underneath the eyes to create a freckled effect. All in all, this technique is eccentric and sets Euphoria-inspired looks apart from other eye looks.
